The music of dharmackra ‘circle of dharma’ is Dr. Jyoshna La Trobe’s latest album. Dharma means ‘that which holds, contains or gives shelter’, and Cakra means ‘wheel’ or ‘circle’. In essence, Dharmacakra is a very important part of one’s spiritual practice, ie. the performance of collective meditation. Dharmacakra was first introduced by Buddha (approx 500 BC) in the Iśipattana deer grove in the presence of his five disciples and has continued ever since, in diverse forms and permutations. It has been adapted and innovated by spirtual teachers around the world, throughout the centuries for various spiritual communities. Just as many spiritual paths have their weekly dharma circles or sacred ceremonies, the format for this Dharmacakra, is given by the composer and preceptor Shrii Shrii Anandamurti.
The dharmacakra album contains both ancient and contemporary songs in Sanskrit as well as original melodies, for both are encouraged by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti.
This music is for those who seek spiritual growth, fulfilment and social upliftment. This music will empower your own spiritual practice and if you find yourself alone, provide the sustenance you need on your spiritual journey.
